1. SCHEDULED GARDEN ROUTE TOUR:
CAPE TOWN TO PORT ELIZABETH - (4 DAYS/3 NIGHTS)
Day 1: Cape Town to Oudtshoorn This morning, the spectacular Du Toit's Kloof Pass takes us over the mountains to Worcester where we stroll through the Karoo National Botanical Garden, a haven for rare and endangered plants. We then enter the verdant Breede River valley, the largest of the Western Cape's fruit and wine producing valleys. As we follow the fruit route, we enjoy magnificent mountain views, vineyards, orchards and indigenous flora. Stops will be made at roadside farm stalls to purchase and sample the fruit. We journey throught the unique and rugged Little Karoo, passing through Barrydale and Calitzdorp, to Oudtshoorn, ostrich capital of the world. We visit an ostrich farm before checking in at our accommodation. There is time to cool off in the pool or put your feet up before trying ostrich steak or Karoo lamb for supper.

Day 2: Oudthoorn to Knysna After breakfast we visit the famous Cango Caves where embark on a magical journey through massive caverns and fascinating limestone formations. We leave the Little Karoo behind and drive through the protea covered Outeniqua Mountains to George. You have the option of catching the Outeniqua Choo Tjoe steam train to Sedgefield, travelling via the Wilderness and the scenic lake district, or you can continue by bus/car. We reach Knysna in time for a drive along the shores of the Knysna lagoon to the quaint village of Belvidere. Restaurants in Knysna specialise in in locally caught fresh fish and this evening we have a chance to sample the catch of the day.

Day 3: Knysna to Tsitsikamma This morning we have a few hours to browse through the best of Knysna's arty crafty shops. We drive along the coast to nearby Plettenberg Bay where we set off on a gentle eco stroll along the Robberg Peninsula, a rocky headland which presents a fine example of how plants and animals adapt to the interacting influences of land and sea. Robberg affords excellent views of any whales and dolphins that may be visiting Plettenberg Bay. Today we are in the heart of the Garden Route and we enjoy a scenic drive along the Old Passes road, stopping for a swim at the unspoilt beaches of Natures Valley. We stop at the Bloukrans Bridge to witness the world's highest commercial bungi jump, before reaching our overnight accommodation in the Tsitsikamma Forest. This evening we enjoy country hospitality and typical South African cuisine at our accommodation's in-house restaurant.

Day 4: Tsitsikamma to Port Elizabeth
Today is spent in the Tsitsikamma Forest, an indigenous primeval forest with towering ancient yellowwood trees, lush vegetation and deep gorges. We drive down a steep pass to the aptly-named Storms River Mouth, where there are numerous short walking trails into the forest. The "Woodcutters' journey" is a trailer or landrover ride which follows an old elephant trail through the forest and is an opportunity to learn about the flora, fauna and history of the area. After lunch in the forest (included in tour), a short walk brings us to the 800-year old "Big Tree". We leave the Garden Route behind, reaching Port Elizabeth in the late afternoon.

2. WINE MAKING EXPERIENCE IN THE CAPE:
(Note: need a minimum group size of 10 people to book.)
An experience of a lifetime
Imagine starting your day picking the perfect grapes, and getting stuck into a serious day's wine-making under the expertise of winemaker CP Conradie. Then enjoying a scrumptious dinner prepared by your chef. After a peaceful night at the Homestead, it's back to the cellar to continue your wine-making. Now imagine some time later, your now bottled wine arriving at your doorstep - ready for showing off to friends, colleagues, and family.
The Conradie cellar is in one of the most beautiful valleys in the Cape winelands, and is just outside of Worcester. The entire wine-making course is facilitated by family wine-maker, CP Conradie.
Accommodation is in a luxury Cape Dutch Homestead to which the group has exclusive access.
After the course is complete, the wine-maker will take care of your wine, and when it is ready, 6 bottles of wine per participant will be available for collection or delivery.

ITINERARY |
|
DAY 1
Departure is from a central point in Cape Town at 06h00. During the 90 minute trip your host will serve coffee and muffins and present a crash-course on wine-making.
On arrival at the guesthouse guests will set off on a tractor to harvest the grapes, after which you will enjoy a well-deserved breakfast. Then its time to head off to the cellar to get down and dirty crushing and pressing the grapes under the supervision of our wine-maker. After lunch you will be able to relax and laze around the swimming pool, go for a walk, or just enjoy the tranquil surroundings.
Later in the afternoon your experience will continue and put your sense of taste and smell to the ultimate test as you learn the finer arts of cheese and wine appreciation.
DAY 2
The day starts off with a stroll through the vineyards followed by breakfast. After breakfast its back to work in the cellar. By this stage the juices of your wine will have cleared and be ready for inoculation and fermentation.
After lunch at a wine estate and an afternoon of wine and olive tasting in the surrounding area, you will partake in a fun-filled evening where you will make your own Cape Cheese Fondue and enjoy the delights of watching Flamekucha being specially prepared for you. A unique opportunity to learn the art of the age-old alpine recipe coupled with the world renowned Alsacian specialty. We produce a ‘winter’ supper of exquisite hand-crafted cape fondue cheeses with Terroir wines, salads and raclette on new potatoes.
DAY 3
After a relaxing overnight stay and a delicious farm breakfast, it is time to and say your final goodbyes, looking forward to the day when you will receive 6 bottles of your very own labeled wine.

A. GARDEN ROUTE AND KLEIN KAROO:
Enjoy a regional culinary explosion of fresh cultivated oysters, seafood, Ostrich, Karoo lamb and the highest rated port in the country. Highlights of the tour include the beautiful lake district, indigenous forests, Plettenberg Bay, Knysna, walking on the spectacular suspension bridge over the Storms River, a visit to an Ostrich Ranch, a ride on the Outeniqua Choo-Tjoe Steam train and a visit to the Cango Caves one of the world's natural wonders sculptured through the ages by nature. Some optional extras are canopy climbing in the trees of the Tsitsikamma Forrest, 4x 4 adventures in the forest and the highest bungee jump in the world. Tour duration 4 to 5 days.
B. SOUTH COAST ? Coastal and Country Tour

Beautiful beaches, whale watching, country rambles on dust roads through wheat fields and sheep farming country, majestic blue cranes taking off from fields at the side of the road, wine tastings, historical fishing villages, missionary towns, the Southern-most point in Africa, lighthouses, fynbos tours........................all accompanied by fine country cuisine, warm missionary hospitality and seafood cooked by fishermen's wives.
Depending on the duration of the tour selected, this tour visits the coastal towns of Hermanus, Arniston and Cape Agulhas; the missionary towns of Elim and possibly Genadendal; the country towns of Bredasdorp and Napier and can include the Robertson wine region which is renowned for its excellent white wine and exquisite chardonnay. Tour duration: 2 to 5 days
C. WEST COAST AND NAMAQUALAND

Stark and dry with beautiful endless unspoilt beaches, this territory comes alive with a plethora of flowers in the Springtime. The mineral rich oceans on this coastline support a broad variety of marine life. Fishing and agriculture are the main income generators of this region. You are in the land of crayfish, outdoor beach restaurants offering endless seafood buffets, Rooibos tea, West Coast wines and delicious country cuisine.
Depending on the duration of your tour, some of the tour's highlights are:
q A visit to the fertile Riebeek valley for olive and wine tasting.
q Darling: for a meal at the restaurant of the most famous woman in South Africa - Pieter Dirk Uys. Evita se Peron offers typical "Boere" cuisine in a fabulously kitsch environment. This can be combined with a country cooking lesson in the evening at a local guesthouse (minimum 6 people)
q Travelling 70km on a mind thumping dust road to taste great wine, visit the well known Stadsaal rock formation and see Bushman's paintings. Optional: spend a night in the Cederberg and hike to see the famous Maltese Cross or Wolfberg Arch (You need to be really fit!)
